Literacy Project

For the topic of my literacy project, I chose the most difficult thing I have to deal with on a day to day basis, my anxiety disorder. I have had anxiety for as long as i can remember, i just never really knew what it was, until i started experiencing a lot of depression and nervousness over things that anyone else i talked to had no problem with. I was diagnosed with an anxiety disorder 2 years ago, after many visits to the doctor wondering why my heart was always beating so fast, or why i had a hard time breathing. Finally i began seeing a therapist (who diagnosed me) and i've been going ever since. Having to deal with my anxiety day in and day out is completely exhausting, mentally and physically, but on the positive side it has taught me many things. Such as learning to control physical things, like breathing exercises or psychological things like overcoming fears of even the simplest things. Eventually i got to the point of not going specific places that i thought triggered anxiety attacks for me, such as the Braintree Plaza, i hate escalators. But thankfully i'm back to my normal shopping habits and have learned different ways to calm myself down and realize everything will be okay eventually. I don't expect anyone that has never experienced anxiety to know what it feels like, but like every other obstetrical, you can overcome it slowly. With some work of course.
